What One Can Do ... Meet us in Baltimore!
Episcopalians for Global Reconciliation is a co-sponsor of Everyone, Everywhere -- a national Episcopal global mission conference. In addition to being a great opportunity to connect and collaborate for God's mission of global reconciliation, EGR is piggybacking on it for its first national gathering of this growing movement.
For the complete scoop and to register, go to the Everyone, Everywhere website. Here are the basics:
When: June 5-8
Where: The Maritime Institute, Baltimore, MD
Who: You!
EGR will be having a large presence at this event. Here is just some of what we've got planned:
Thursday, June 5
9 am - Noon -- Drop by the EGR booth in the Exhibit Hall, get up-to-the-minute details on what EGR is up to at the gathering, sign up for affinity groups for Friday afternoon gathering.
9:45 pm - Think Globally, Drink Locally - After the day is done, gather to unwind with EGR for a cup of coffee, soda or something stronger and make connections with others who share your passion for making poverty history.
Friday, June 6
EGR is sponsoring the Friday morning break ... so look for lots of information about What One Can Do for God's mission of global reconciliation.
4-6 pm - EGR Affinity Groups -- get together with others in the EGR network who share common interests and passions to learn about each other's ministries and dream about how you can work together for God's mission in the world.
9:45 pm - Think Globally, Drink Locally - After the day is done, gather to unwind with EGR for a cup of coffee, soda or something stronger and make connections with others who share your passion for making poverty history.
Saturday, June 7
11:30 am - 12:15 pm -- EGR Sponsored Workshop: Theology of the MDGs -- The MDGs are nothing new ... they're a 21st century structure for a life to which Christ has called the Church (and to which the Church has responded) for centuries. We'll look at the theological foundation for this work and how embracing the MDGs can lead us deeper in our journey into Christ.
EGR is sponsoring Saturday's lunch ... so look for lots of information about What One Can Do for God's mission of global reconciliation.
1:30 - 2:45 pm -- EGR Sponsored Workshop: MDG 2.0 - Transforming Your Congregation -- You've preached the sermon, done the adult ed class and have the 0.7% line item in your budget. Now what? We'll look at how to use the groundwork you've already laid to lead a call to transformation of congregational life and individual lives. How engaging God's mission of global reconciliation invites us to look at our stewardship, liturgy, theology ... as well as our lives as American citizens and participants in Western culture and society ... with different eyes. The good news is: You've only just begun!
4-6 pm -- EGR Social Hour -- Ok, it's really two hours. EGR provides the refreshments and the space, you provide the conversation. This is a chance to continue the conversations you've started during shorter breaks but never got back to ... to meet with cool people you met in your affinity groups ... or just to hang out and meet new folks. Just show up and have fun. It's What One Person Can Do!
9:45 pm - Think Globally, Drink Locally - After the day is done, gather to unwind with EGR for a cup of coffee, soda or something stronger and make connections with others who share your passion for making poverty history.
Sunday, June 8
9 - 10:30 am -- Closing Eucharist -- EGR Executive Director Mike Kinman will be the preacher.
